Making a splash at hot tub hotels in the Lake District
![]() ![]() | Holidaymakers who want to enjoy a romantic weekend away or a midweek break are making a splash at hot tubs hotels in the Lake District.
Many hot tub hotels in Windermere are situated within walking distance of the lake itself, and are surrounded by stunning countyside and a wide choice of things to see and do in the great outdoors. At 10.5 miles long and one mile wide, Windermere is the largest natural lake in England and it is fed by many rivers. In places 220 feet deep, the lake has always been an important waterway for movement of heavy materials, and the Romans built the fort of Galava at the Waterhead end. Bowness-on-Windermere is the Lake District´s most popular destination for holidaymakers, and visitors planning a romantic break or a week´s holiday are booking flocking to hot tub hotels with luxurious facilities in the Lake District. The Lake District, and Windermere in particular are the perfect places for boating activities, and there is nothing quite like spending a day out on the lake, followed by a relaxing soak in a personal hot tub. Over 10,000 boats are registered at Windermere, and up to 2005 it was the only lake without a speed limit. A 10mph limit has now been imposed to ensure all users of the lake are safe. Steamers and launches operate from Bowness Bay to Waterhead and Ambleside and to Lakeside at the southern end. Visitors can also take a boat trip to the Aquarium of the Lakes. During the late 19th Century, wealthy businessmen, particularly from Lancashire, built grand mansions overlooking many of the major lakes in the Lake District, and tourism really began to catch on in this stunning part of England. Since those early days, when Victorian aristocracy used to visit the Lakes as they thought the fresh air was beneficial to their health, the Lake District has evolved into one of the most popular tourist destinations in England. Many spa hotels and hot tub hotels in the Lake District attract visitors from all over the world, and the Lakes was once home to famous poet and author William Wordsworth, whose houses, Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount are now open to the public. Beatrix Potter, the famous childrens´ author was also a resident of the Lake District and her house can be viewed at Far Sawrey. Much may have changed in the Lake District since the days of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, but the landscapes, the scenery and the open countryside remain the same. Hot tub hotels in the Lakes offer visitors fantastic facilities, personal hot tubs and jacuzzi baths for two, and a vast choice of things to see and do nearby. Visitors who want to make the most of Windermere can buy an unlimited pass to cruise across the Lake, stopping off wherever they choose, enjoy some great walks and attractions including the Aquarium of the Lakes, pubs, restaurants and cafés, and finish the day off by enjoying luxury hotel facilities including personal hot tubs and jacuzzi baths for two. |
